Nam Shan

Tigershead is a geographically unique mountain with a modest elevation of 465 meters. Its exceptional location offers a breathtaking 360-degree panoramic view. From its summit, one can observe Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, Tai Mo Shan, Tuen Mun, and the expanse of the sea. Additionally, the majestic Sunset Peak can be admired from this vantage point. During the autumn season, the mountain is adorned with patches of golden miscanthus, which sway gracefully in the cool breeze, creating a mesmerizing spectacle.

30KM

The 30 km long route can be divided into 2 sections. The first half starts at Nam Shan, runners cross South Lantau Road and climb to the top of Tai Ngau Wu Teng. Behind the fire lookout point, a stone staircase leads down to the old village of Shap Long. Runners run along the road to Chi Ma Wan and Shap Long Reservoir and then follow the Chi Ma Wan Country Trail to climb Lo Yan Shan. The scenery up there is very beautiful. You can see Pui O Beach up close and Sunset Peak and Lantau Peak in the distance. Hike north on the mountain trail, pass Miu Tsai Tun and return to Shap Long Old Village for supplies. After walking the 6km coastal path back to Mui Wo and Silver Mine Bay Beach, you will have completed the first half of the 14.5km route. The second half is mostly the same as 19 km route.

19KM

Starting from Nam Shan, participants run down the Old Nam Shan Path to Luk Tei Tong and Silver Mine Bay Beach. At the end of the beach there is a long staircase climbing up to Hung Shui Shan, from where you can see the tranquil and beautiful Silver Mine Bay from a different angle. There is a road on the other side of the mountain. As you run further down, you will see several western-style buildings on both sides, which belong to Our Lady of Joy Abbey. Runners must then continue along the coastal path to Nim Shue Wan and then climb up to Discovery Bay Reservoir. The final challenge is the steep and rocky Tigershead. Once at the top, runners continue on Lo Fu Tau Country Trail and down to Olympic Trail (another name : Tung Mui Ancient Trail). Then return to Mui Wo via the Silver Mine Cave and Pak Ngan Heung. When reaching Luk Tei Tong, runners climb up Old Nam Shan Path, runners can finally reach the finish line again.

6KM

The runners start at Nam Shan heading to Mui Wo via Old Nam Shan Path. Then they run along the village road to Wang Tong and climb up Wo Sheung Au. Then, turn left and reach Tung Mui Ancient Trail. In the past, Tung Mui Ancient Trail was the mountain path used by villagers such as Tung Chung and Pak Mong to trade in Mui Wo. Today it is called “Islands Nature Heritage Trail – Mui Wo Section” and also “Olympic Trail”. Before returning to the finish, don’t miss the century-old silver mine cave and the four-century-old Man Mo Temple in Pak Ngan Heung. When reaching Luk Tei Tong, runners climb up Old Nam Shan Path, runners can finally reach the finish line again.
